Properly format your email: CRM emails
generally consist of an HTML fragment rather than the full document. VEM detects this and encapsulates the email content in a compliant container, whilst also filtering redundant
non-compliant tags. If you've ever seen spurious characters in your CRM emails this is typically caused by the email-reader having no charset meta-tag to decode symbols, VEM adds this. VEM
even detects any inline stylesheets and correctly places them in the HTML header.
Add a plaintext body part: CRM emails are sent with only an HTML
body-part, which means that apart from worsening your spam-score, recipients reading in plain text will see something generated by their email-reader, or maybe nothing! Different
email-readers produce different results. In particular, Outlook will generally render all images as links, which can be distracting, whereas Outlook Express does not render links at
all - other email-readers have different behaviours. Using VEM to generate a plaintext body-part automatically ensures reproducibility, preserves links and suppresses images.
Use more transparent transfer-encoding: CRM emails are sent with
Base64 transfer-encoding, normally reserved for binary content such as images. VEM can instead encode using Quoted-Printable which improves readability and spam-score.
Add a 'View Online' link: In recognition of the fact that a
significant number of recipients read in plaintext, you can use VEM to add a 'View Online' link to email templates. Simply type your desired link text (for example 'View this email
online') within the email template, select the text and use
the [Manage Profile] feature to point back to the template you are editing. Recipients can then simply click on this link to see the full HTML-formatted email, rendered with all their
personalisation which you have configured into the template.
